Abundant Earth: How to Enrich Your Agricultural Soil

This year, at Ierba, we've chosen to employ the method of burying nitrogen-rich plants to enrich our agricultural soil. Thus, we opted for oats, harvesting them prematurely and burying them through plowing. This will infuse the earth with an abundance of organic matter, nitrogen, and other minerals. Following this, we've decided to cover the land until the upcoming spring, laying the groundwork for flourishing harvests.

Milky oats

Moreover, we've seized the opportunity to harvest a portion of this same oats to prepare delightful herbal teas. We gather them when they're in the milky stage. You'll observe that this stage passes swiftly, allowing for a short harvesting window of merely one or two weeks. The milky stage occurs after flowering and before the plants begin to turn brown. Being trophorestorative for the nervous system, it aids the body in recuperating during times of stress, exhaustion, or convalescence. It's a tonic, regenerative, and remineralizing plant. We also utilize the straw for its calming properties and its rich supply of minerals and vitamins, including calcium and magnesium. It can be enjoyed as a herbal infusion, offering daily support. This gentle regenerative herb is intended for those who experience coldness, fatigue, or exhaustion, or for individuals who consume excessive coffee and suffer from chronic burnout.
